Please contact us if you are
• able to host someone fleeing Ukraine or
• can offer any backup support in our area; perhaps showing them around the area, telling them what is available, maybe inviting them for a meal at your house, providing clothing or other essentials or
• would like to go onto our mailing list so that we can keep you informed

• are a Ukrainian guest and would like any form of help or support.

For those willing to host we know of three routes:
the Government Scheme (see below)
Samaritans Purse (see below)
UkraineTakeShelter (see below)

Currently, visa delays seem to be a problem for anyone wishing to come to the UK but we understand the backlog is slowly clearing.

We are working with other Campden groups - churches, Facebook, WhatsApp etc - and we are in contact with various national organisations in an effort to enable everyone to work together and share support for refugees who come to Campden. We are keeping details of offers of help in the area - whether to host or offer backup support.
Working Together
These are some of the groups and organisations working with and for our Ukrainian guests, their hosts and others willing to offer support.
In case of emergency you can contact Fire, Police and Ambulance all on one number. Dial 999.
CC Homes For Refugees

Help And Homes For Refugees In Chipping Campden And The Cotswolds
The Government Scheme
This bespoke scheme will offer a route to those who want to come to the UK who have someone here willing to provide them with a home. It will enable individuals, charities, community groups and businesses to volunteer accommodation and provide a route to safety for those forced to escape their homeland.
Samaritans Purse has been working with partners in Ukraine for many years distributing "shoe box" gifts to children. Now many of those partners need help to find a place of safety. They have therefore set up a scheme to match partners that are seeking to come to the UK with church members here who choose to act as sponsors and hosts in their homes. Samaritans Purse will arrange and pay for their travel to the UK. Details can be found here.
UkraineTakeShelter is a web platform set up by two Harvard graduates helping to connect Ukrainian refugees with potential hosts in internationally. The site includes verification of both hosts and refugees. You can register as a potential host here.
We understand that local schools will follow government guidelines regarding the admission of pupils from Ukraine. The general guidance can be found here. We understand that the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is shortly to publish a Welcome Pack for refugees from Ukraine, in Ukrainian and Russian, and this will include an annex advising them on how to apply for a school. Any Ukrainian family with children should contact a school directly (see our Young People page) and complete an in-year application form. Details can be found here.
Teaching English
We're in touch with a retired teacher of English as a foreign language who lives locally who is willing to help with any Ukrainians who want to learn or improve their English. Please contact the hub if of interest.

Sanctuary Foundation
Seems to be an excellent charity helping facilitate Ukrainian refugees to settle in UK. They have a lot of information and guidance which is very useful. You can sign up as a church, individual, organisation etc.
Connecting refugees with sponsors where you can register your interest in sponsoring a refugee.
Information leaflet for Ukrainians arriving in the UK
A helpful leaflet is available from this link.

Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain
The Gloucester branch of the largest representative body for Ukrainians and those of Ukrainian descent in the UK. It exists to develop, promote and support the interests of the Ukrainian community in the UK.

Charity Donation

We sent a donation to World Central Kitchen (WCK) and thought you might like to know something about them.

They are an American charity which set up kitchens serving hot, nourishing meals to those fleeing Ukraine who are now in Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Hungary. They are also partnering with restaurants inside Ukraine to get hot meals to anyone in need.

They are serving 250,000 hot meals every day with more than 3.5 million meals served so far.

In addition to freshly prepared meals, they have distributed over 2,000 tons of food to cities across Ukraine

For more information or to donate directly to them please visit their website.

Visa Applications

According to The Times, the Home Office is being blamed for visa applications being handled very slowly. However, it is hoped that the process will speed up and we will be able to welcome more people fleeing Ukraine to the Campden area.

Hosts involved in the application process should obtain as much information as possible about those they will be welcoming to ensure a good "fit" into their homes.
